Wika Submersible Pressure Sensors

The submersible pressure transmitter is a particular type of pressure sensor for hydrostatic level measurement in tanks, wells, shafts, and bore holes. It is also occasionally referred to as a level probe. In order to do this, the submersible pressure transmitter must be placed as close to the bottom of the liquid being monitored as possible. The hydrostatic pressure is measured by the submersible pressure sensor there, allowing for a direct determination of the current level, or the height of the liquid column above it.

Description

For simple measuring requirements
The model LS-10 submersible pressure sensor has been optimised for simple measuring requirements in level measurement. It offers excellent quality, is cost-effective and reliable.

It has been designed to the current demands of the industry and features a 4 ... 20 mA output signal, an accuracy of 0.5 % and a cable from PUR as standard. With IP68 ingress protection, it is suitable for permanent level measurement up to 100 m water column.

Reliable and durable
The submersible pressure sensor features a hermetically sealed and exceptionally robust stainless steel case. The proven, all-welded construction ensures a long service life and permanent leak tightness.

Applications

  • Level measurement in vessel and storage systems
  • Overfilling and no-load operation monitoring
  • Level measurement in rivers and lakes
  • Deep well and groundwater monitoring
  • Battery-operated level measuring systems

Special features

  • Suitable for measurements in contaminated and aggressive media
  • An optimised discharge behaviour and a large pressure port prevent the instrument from clogging and ensure a
    minimum maintenance effort
  • Can be used in explosion-protected areas
  • Developed for wireless applications

Description

Permanently reliable
Extensive test cycles not only guarantee a permanent resistance and long service life in all commonly used oils and fuels, including aggressive crude oils and biofuels, but also in flowing and stagnant waters and in wastewater treatment applications. Thanks to newly developed special cables, components made of high-alloyed stainless steel and an optional overvoltage protection against lightning, the submersible pressure sensor is perfectly suited for the measurement of liquid levels, also in the outdoor area.

Precise level and temperature measurement with HART®communication
A measurement uncertainty of max. 0.5 %, a long-term drift of 0.1 % and slight temperature errors make the LF-1 a reliable measurement solution for the monitoring of storage tanks and bodies of water.

The additional analogue temperature output facilitates the compensation of a temperature-induced density error especially at temperatures of up to -40 ... +80 °C [-40 ... +176 °F]. The integrated HART®communication can be used for scaling the measuring range and for the parameterisation of unit, error signal, and others.

Optimised electronics for battery operation
The modern electronic system guarantees not only a high accuracy in the long term but also ensures a very long battery life thanks to low power supply, low current consumption, fast response time and low-power output signals.

Safety also in hazardous areas
The optional intrinsically safe electronic system is authorised according to the common international standards and allows a safe worldwide application in explosive gases and vapours.

Applications

  • Deep well and borehole measurements
  • Groundwater monitoring
  • Level measurement in open bodies of water
  • Sewage lift and pumping stations
  • Settling ponds and rainwater basins

Special Features

  • Slender design
  • Scaleable measuring range (option)
  • Resistant against harshest environmental conditions
  • Reliable and secure by double-sealed design
  • Titanium case for especially high resistance (option)

Description

For the most demanding measurement tasks
The model LH-20 submersible pressure transmitter has been designed for the most demanding of level measurement tasks. A slender design, highest accuracies, low temperature errors and an adjustable measuring range ensure the suitability of the LH-20 for all submerged level measurements. The model LH-20 submersible pressure transmitter can adapt to countless applications and measuring media through a large number of features and options. Depending on the requirements, this level probe is available with, amongst other things, a titanium case, PUR/PE/FEP cable, 0.1 % accuracy, HART®, scaleability or parallel temperature output signal. For operation in hazardous environments, the model LH-20 submersible pressure transmitter is also available in an intrinsically safe version. For potable and fresh water applications, a potable water conformant product variant is possible in accordance with KTW and ACS.

Hermetically sealed, robust and durable
The model LH-20 submersible pressure transmitter has been engineered for use in the harshest environments. Through a double, redundant sealing concept, it is permanently hermetically sealed. A robust design from stainless steel or titanium, with a spring-reinforced cable seal, ensures a long service life, even under the big mechanical loads of installation and continuous use. Designs with the highest media resistance using FEP cable and titanium cases, along with the integrated lightning protection, guarantee the longevity of the submersible pressure transmitter even under the most adverse environmental influences in aggressive media, in both indoor and outdoor use.

Applications

  • Wastewater treatment and biogas production
  • Brackish water and fuel tanks in shipbuilding
  • Oil and fuel storage tanks
  • Mining and gas extraction

Special Features

  • Suitable for all level measurements in hazardous areas
  • Explosion protection in accordance with IECEx, ATEX and CSA
  • Shipbuilding approval in accordance with GL
  • Ingress protection IP68 up to 300 m immersion depth

Description

For the highest demands
The intrinsically safe submersible pressure transmitter model IL-10 has been designed for the highest requirements of level measurement. Owing to their high accuracy, reliability and their excellent media resistance, it is the ideal solution for almost all level measurements in hazardous areas.

Especially noteworthy are the outstanding approval-related characteristics (IECEx and ATEX). In addition, the IL-10 has the North-American approval CSA (Canada).

Design
A hermetically sealed and robust stainless steel case with ingress protection IP68 enables immersion depths of up to 300 m.
The submersible pressure transmitter is supplied with a power supply of DC 10 ... 30 V via a suitable isolated barrier and provides an output signal of 4 ... 20 mA, 2-wire.

Applications

  • Level measurement in rivers and lakes
