Wika Level Sensors (Continuous Measurement With Float)

With the help of our level sensors, levels may be continuously detected without being affected by physical or chemical alterations to the media, such as foaming, conductivity, dielectric, pressure, vacuum, temperature, vapours, condensation, bubble formation, boiling effects, or density changes. Parallel measurements of the interface layer and overall level are achievable through the HART® interface. The level can be shown in relation to either height or volume. Stainless steel types 1.4571, 1.4435, and 1.4539, titanium, and a variety of polymers can be used to make process connections, guide tubes, and floats.

Description

The level sensor models FLM-S, FLM-T and FLM-P level level senor are used for the high-accuracy, continuous level detection of liquids and are based on determining the position of a magnetic float according to the magnetostrictive measurement principle. The magnetostrictive measuring principle of the level sensor enables the continuous measurement of levels, independent of physical and chemical changes of the media such as temperature, conductivity, dielectric, pressure, foaming, vacuum, condensation, vapours, bubble formation, boiling effects and density change Via the HART® interface, the parallel measurement of overall level and interface layer is possible.

By means of the level sensor, the level can be displayed proportional to volume or height.

Installation and commissioning of the level sensor is simple: Only one calibration is carried out, a recalibration is not required. Float, process connection and guide tube can be manufactured from titanium, stainless steel 1.4571, 1.4435, 1.4539 or various plastics.

Description

ALM level sensors are used to measure and transmit the level of liquids in conjunction with a customer’s control unit outside of the containment area. It is based on the float principle with magnetic transmission in a 3-wire potentiometer circuit.

The resistance measuring chain is closely stepped. Due to this assembly the generated voltage is approximately continuous. Signal transmission over large distances and use in hazardous areas are possible.

Applications

  • Combined level and temperature measurement of liquids in machine building
  • Control and monitoring tasks for hydraulic power packs, compressors and cooling systems

Special features

  • Media compatibility: Oil, water, diesel, refrigerants and other liquids
  • Level: Current output 4 ... 20 mA
  • Temperature: Pt100, Pt1000, accuracy: Class B

Description

The model RLT-3000 level sensor with temperature output combines the recording of the level and temperature of liquids in a single measuring point. The stainless steel used is suitable for a multitude of media, such as, for example, oil, water, diesel and refrigerants.

Measuring principle
A permanent magnet built into the float triggers, with its magnetic field, the resistance measuring chain built into the guide tube. The built-in transmitter converts the signal of the resistance measuring chain into a 4 ... 20 mA current signal. The current signal is proportional to the level. For the temperature measurement, there is a platinum measuring resistor built into the end of the guide tube.

The model RLT-3000 is also available with 2 optional 4 ... 20 mA analogue outputs.

Applications

  • Level detection for almost all liquid media
  • Simple and wireless configuration of the head-mounted transmitter via Bluetooth®5.0 (BLE) and smartphone and/or tablet
  • With Bluetooth®beacon function

Special features

  • Process- and procedure-specific solutions possible
  • Operating limits:
    - Operating temperature: T = -80 ... +200 °C [-112 ... +392 °F]
    - Operating pressure: P = vacuum to 80 bar [1,160.3 psi]
    - Limit density: ρ ≥ 400 kg/m3[25.0 lbs/ft³]
  • Wide variety of different electrical connections, process connections and materials
  • 4 ... 20 mA output signal with additional Bluetooth®interface for wireless configuration and level monitoring

Description

The model FLR-SC level transmitters with reed measuring chain are used for level measurement in liquid media. They work on the float principle with magnetic transmission.

The float's magnetic system in the guide tube actuates a resistance measuring chain that corresponds to a 3-wire potentiometer circuit. The measurement voltage generated by this is proportional to the fill level.

The measurement voltage is very finely stepped due to the contact separation of the measuring chain and is thus virtually continuous. Depending on the requirements, several different contact separations are available.

The head-mounted transmitter in the case can be configured wirelessly via an app. The head-mounted transmitter communicates the measured values, via Bluetooth®, to a device such as a smartphone or a tablet, which displays the level graphically. In addition, the instrument description, the TAG number and also the 0 % and 100 % marks can be easily configured via the app.

Applications

  • Food and beverage industry
  • Pharmaceutical industry
  • Biotechnology
  • Level measurement in fermenters

Special features

  • Fully welded and dead space free
  • Operating limits:
    - Operating temperature: T = -40 ... +250 °C
    - Operating pressure: P = Vacuum to 10 bar
  • Insensitive to foaming, ideal for interface measurement

Description

The model FLRU level transmitter with reed-chain technology in combination with the WIKA model NETRIS®3 radio unit is used wherever web-based remote monitoring of level measurement in liquid media is desired. Condition-based and preventive maintenance through centralised big data analysis is thus possible.

Level transmitters of this model series work on the floatprinciple with magnetic transmission and are used wherever centralised, web-based remote monitoring is required. The float's magnetic system in the guide tube actuates aresistance measuring chain that corresponds to a 3-wire potentiometer circuit.

The measurement voltage generated by this is proportional to the fill level. The measurement voltage is very finely stepped due to the contact separation of the measuring chain and is thus virtually continuous. Depending on the requirements, several different contact separations are available.

The FLRU reed level transmitter is part of the WIKA IIoT solution. With this, WIKA offers a holistic solution for your digitalisation strategy.
